Skillet Cornbread. Perfect cornbread made with delicate, golden skillet cornbread, with perfect crumb, easy to make, perfect side dish or breakfast.
Ingredients
- Cornmeal → 1 cup
- All-purpose flour → 1 cup
- Sugar → 1/4 cup
- Baking powder → 1 tbsp
- Salt → 1/2 tsp
- Milk → 1 cup
- Large eggs → 2
- Melted butter → 1/3 cup (additional amount will be added to the skillet)
- Vegetable oil → 1 tbsp
Skillet Cornbread: Instructions
- Activate the oven, and preheat it to 400 deg F (200 deg C) and put a cast iron skillet into the oven to preheat.
- Cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt are mixed in a bowl.
- In the second bowl, oil, butter and eggs are mixed with milk.
- Add the wet ingredients then stir up the mixture.
- Wipe hot skillet dry, insert a small amount of butter in it and swirl.
- Add into the hot skillet and smooth out the batter.
- Bake until brown and clean tooth pick in the cake- 20-25mins.
- Allow to cool a bit, cut and eat.
