Breaded Venison Steak
Ingredients:
- 1½ lbs venison steaks
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp butter
Method:
- Place the venison steaks between sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound them to an even thickness. Soak them in buttermilk mixed with hot sauce for at least 30 minutes.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and thyme.
- Remove the steaks from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each steak thoroughly in the seasoned breading, pressing gently so it sticks.
- Heat about ¼ inch of vegetable oil and the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the breaded venison steaks in the hot skillet. Fry for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked to your preferred doneness.
- Transfer the steaks to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, country gravy, green beans, or cornbread. 🥔🥩✨
