Breaded Venison Steak

Breaded Venison Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1½ lbs venison steaks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 tbsp butter

Method:

  1. Place the venison steaks between sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound them to an even thickness. Soak them in buttermilk mixed with hot sauce for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and thyme.
  3. Remove the steaks from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each steak thoroughly in the seasoned breading, pressing gently so it sticks.
  4. Heat about ¼ inch of vegetable oil and the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Carefully place the breaded venison steaks in the hot skillet. Fry for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked to your preferred doneness.
  6. Transfer the steaks to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, country gravy, green beans, or cornbread. 🥔🥩✨
